In a surprising announcement that shocked anime fans, it was revealed that Solo Leveling Season 3 might not come out until 2028. That’s right, fans could be waiting four more years.
Just as the excitement from Season 2 was at its peak, a comment from Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi has left the community confused and concerned. Now, everyone is asking the same thing: Do we really have to wait until 2028 to see Sung Jin-Woo in action again?
Producer Hints 2028 Might Be the Best Time for Season 3
But Solo Leveling Fans aren’t so happy after listening to this

In a surprising and slightly controversial comment, Sota Furuhashi, a main producer at Aniplex who has worked closely on the Solo Leveling anime, shared his personal thoughts on when Season 3 should be released. Speaking about the overwhelming workload involved in producing the series, Furuhashi said: “If it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics (2028) to see what’s going to happen with a Season 3.”
His Reasoning? The sheer scale of production. Furuhashi said that between Season 1 and Season 2, the team created over 220,000 frames of animation, a massive amount of work that shows how much time and effort goes into Solo Leveling animation.
“I think I’m more excited than anyone for Season 3,” Furuhashi added. “But honestly, the series is very hard on the animation team. Making something this good takes time, and rushing it could ruin what we’ve done so far.”
He also made it clear that he isn’t the one who makes the final decision, that’s up to director Shunsuke Nakashige and the studio A-1 Pictures. Still, his comment caused a lot of discussion and guesses online.
“I think, more than anyone, I am anxiously awaiting a Season 3! But in truth, between Season 1 and Season 2, 220,000 frames of animation were created. So, if it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics (2028) to see what’s going to happen with a Season 3. But I think that’s more up to Kaneko and A-1 Pictures.” — Sota Furuhashi
Is Solo Leveling Season 3 Really Delayed Until 2028?

It’s important to understand what Furuhashi really meant. His comment about a 2028 release was more about wanting the best quality for the show, not an official release date. Still, hearing such a long wait from someone involved in the anime made fans worry.
People who know the anime industry say, Furuhashi just wants to keep the show’s high quality, but waiting until 2028 might not work for the studio. Solo Leveling is now a worldwide hit, with millions of fans and strong streaming numbers. If the next season takes too long, the show could lose its popularity and fans might lose interest.
Many believe a more likely release date would be sometime between late 2026 and mid-2027. This would give the team enough time to make a great season without letting the excitement die down.
Solo Leveling’s Big Choice: Quality or Quick Release?

There’s no question that Solo Leveling demands more than a standard production schedule. With its breathtaking fight sequences, fluid animation, and intricately designed characters, every episode feels like a cinematic event. This level of craftsmanship doesn’t come easy or fast.
However, the question remains same: how long is too long?
Fans are already showing signs of concern. Social media platforms are flooded with discussions, memes, and even petitions urging the studio to clarify the release schedule. On the other hand, some fans support Furuhashi’s suggestion, emphasizing that quality should never be compromised for speed.
The dilemma is not uncommon in the anime industry. Rushed productions can often result in disappointing visuals, inconsistent pacing, and lackluster storytelling, a risk that a powerhouse title like Solo Leveling simply cannot afford.
