In the world of My Hero Academia, Quirks—superhuman abilities that manifest in about 80% of the population—are central to the story’s universe. These powers range from the mundane to the fantastical, deeply influencing every aspect of society, from the economy and law enforcement to culture and interpersonal relationships.
Quirks in My Hero Academia typically emerge in early childhood, passed down genetically, though there are exceptions, such as the main character, Izuku Midoriya, who is born Quirkless. Despite being outliers, Quirkless individuals face significant social disadvantages, as Quirks have become a key determinant of one’s role in society. Here are top 10 most powerful Quirks in My Hero Academia.
1. All For One
Although All For One hasn’t shown his full powers yet, but he is believed to be the strongest Quirk user in My Hero Academia. He is the main villain in the story of My Hero Academia and can steal other users quirk as he wishes.
His stolen Quirks range from physical enhancements like super strength and regeneration to more exotic powers like warping space, controlling others’ minds, or manipulating biological functions. He can also transfer different Quirks to others.
2. One For All (All Might, Izuku Midoriya)
All Might is Known as the greatest hero the world has ever known, and he is also known as the ‘Symbol Of Peace’ and Izuku is the current user of One for All Quirk. His incredible strength, unmatched courage, and unwavering dedication to justice are all tied to his unique Quirk known as One For All. All Might at its peak can easily defeat powerful villains, rescue hundreds of civilians and and can even destroy blocks in cities with a single punch.
Yoichi Shigaraki the younger brother of All For One possessed a seemingly useless Quirk that allowed him to transfer his power to others. However, when All For One forcefully gave his brother a Quirk that granted enhanced strength, the two abilities merged to create One For All. Thus, it creates a line of heroes, passing the Quirk from one person to the next over time.
3. New Order
The “New Order” Quirk, wielded by Star and Stripe (Cathleen Bate), is one of the most powerful and versatile Quirks in My Hero Academia. This ability allows the user to impose new rules or “orders” on anything they touch, whether it’s living beings or inanimate objects, making them follow a command. She is the #1 American pro hero.
In the series, Star and Stripe uses “New Order” in her climactic battle against Tomura Shigaraki, aiming to stop the villain from gaining more power. Although she delivers a formidable fight, she eventually sacrifices herself to prevent Shigaraki from fully taking her Quirk.
4. HellFlame (Endeavor)
Hellflame is the Quirk wielded by Enji Todoroki, also known as Endeavor, the former No. 2 and current No. 1 Pro Hero in My Hero Academia. This powerful Quirk allows him to generate and control intense flames from his body at will. The heat from Hellflame can reach incredibly high temperatures, allowing Endeavor to incinerate enemies, unleash destructive fire-based attacks, and even fly by propelling himself with flames.
This Quirk also reflects Endeavors inner conflict, as he spent years pushing himself and his family to surpass All Might, leading to harsh relationship with his family, especially with his son Shoto, whom he trained very harshly to master both fire and ice.
5. Overhaul (Kai Chisaki)
Overhaul is the dangerous and highly versatile Quirk wielded by Kai Chisaki, the main antagonist of the “Shie Hassaikai Arc” in My Hero Academia. This Quirk grants Chisaki the ability to disassemble and reassemble anything he touches at a molecular level, including living beings, objects, and even his own body. Overhaul’s power is incredibly destructive, as Chisaki can disintegrate his opponents with a single touch.
The Overhaul Quirk is a key part of Chisaki’s cruel mindset and need for control. He believes that Quirks are like a sickness, and he wants to remove them from the world. Using his Quirk, he creates a drug that can take away people’s Quirks permanently.
6. Rewind (Eri)
Rewind is the incredibly rare and unique Quirk possessed by Eri, a young girl in My Hero Academia. This Quirk allows Eri to reverse the state of living beings to a previous point in their existence. She can undo injuries, erase the effects of aging, and even reverse someone’s body to a time before they had a Quirk.
Eri had no control over her Quirk and she had spent years being manipulated by overhaul, who could use her to mass produce the bullets that could erase the Quirks. This caused her to fear her own ability as she felt responsible for the sufferings it caused. However, through the help of Deku and other heroes, Eri begins to understand that her power can be used for good.
7. Half Hot/Half Cold (Shoto Todoroki)
Half-Cold Half-Hot is the dual-element Quirk of Shoto Todoroki who is one of the main characters in My Hero Academia. This Quirk allows Shoto to generate and control both ice from his right side and fire from his left side, making him incredibly versatile in combat.
Beyond its combat power, Shoto’s Quirk is deeply tied to his personal struggle and family history. His father, Endeavor, forced Shoto to master both elements in an effort to surpass All Might, leading to a strained relationship and emotional trauma.
8. Erasure (Aizawa)
Erasure is one of the most powerful Quirk and is owned by a U.A professor named Shoto Aizawa. Shoto might not be the most powerful character to be known, but his Quirk makes him very useful during the battle. This Quirk allows Aizawa to temporarily nullify another person’s Quirk just by looking at them. As long as he keeps his eyes open and focused on his target, their Quirk is completely disabled, making him highly effective against even the most powerful opponents.
This Quirk is extremely useful and powerful, but it has certain drawbacks too. If Aizawa blinks or loses his focus from the opponent, it will immediately deactivate and the enemy will be able to use his Quirk. Additionally, Aizawa’s eyes dry out quickly with prolonged use, forcing him to blink and momentarily lose his control over the target’s Quirk.
9. Brainwashing (Shinso)
Hitoshi Shinso, same as Shoto Aizawa might not be the best fighter of My Hero Academia, but he possesses a very powerful Quirk named Brainwashing. This Quirk allows him to take control of anyone who responds to his spoken words. Once a person replies to him, Shinso can make them follow his commands, effectively controlling their actions for a period of time.
This Quirk becomes even more powerful when Shinso can mimic other voices to confuse the enemy to make them respond him. However this Quirk has certain limitations that it doesn’t work if the target refuses to speak or respond, and any strong physical shock can break the control, making it vulnerable in prolonged or physical battles.
10. Fierce Wings (Hawks)
In My Hero Academia, Hawks possesses the Quirk Fierce Wings, which grants him large, red, feathered wings that he can control with incredible precision. Hawks can manipulate each individual feather, allowing them to act like projectiles or tools for tasks such as rescuing people or fighting villains. He is also the new number 2 Pro hero.
In the battle against Dabi, Hawks’ Quirk was badly damaged when Dabi/Toya Todoroki blasted him with fire. Despite his laid-back personality, Hawks is a highly skilled hero who uses his Quirk not only for combat but also for intelligence gathering.
